ADHD Testing
ADHD testing is one of the most common reasons individuals seek psychological evaluation, but getting an accurate diagnosis requires more than a quick checklist. Many people come to us with long-standing concerns about focus, productivity, or impulsivity, while others may have been diagnosed years ago and need updated documentation for treatment, school, or work accommodations.
Because ADHD symptoms can overlap with other conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or sleep disorders, a thorough evaluation is essential. Misdiagnosis or incomplete assessment can lead to ineffective treatment and possible side effects from medication management, which is why our process is designed to be comprehensive, efficient, and clinically sound.

What Is ADHD Testing?
ADHD testing is a structured psychological evaluation used to determine whether symptoms meet clinical criteria for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Our testing process goes beyond basic screening tools and includes a full review of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning.
What to Expect During Testing
Our ADHD evaluations are designed to be clear, supportive, and thorough. The process typically includes:
- Initial consultation to discuss symptoms, history, and concerns
- Standardized testing to assess attention, memory, and executive functioning.
- Behavioral and psychological questionnaires
- Review of medical, academic, and personal history
- Differential diagnosis to rule out other conditions
- Detailed written report with diagnostic findings and recommendations
Why Comprehensive Testing Matters
Many conditions can mimic ADHD symptoms. Without proper evaluation, individuals may be treated for ADHD when another issue is actually the root cause.
Common alternative or co-occurring conditions include:
- Anxiety disorders
- Depression
- PTSD or trauma-related conditions
- Sleep disorders
- Learning disabilities
- Substance use
- Stress and burnout
Our goal is to ensure diagnostic accuracy so your treatment plan is effective from the start.
ADHD Testing for Medication
Most medical providers require recent, formal psychological testing before prescribing ADHD medication. Our evaluations meet these requirements and provide:
- Clear diagnostic documentation
- Objective test results
- Clinical recommendations for treatment
- Reports accepted by primary care providers and psychiatrists
If medication is appropriate, our in-house prescribers can guide you through next steps after diagnosis.
Benefits of Getting Tested

Frequently asked questions:
What is the age range for ADHD testing?
We provide ADHD evaluations for adolescents and adults. Contact us to confirm specific age requirements.
How long does the testing process take?
Testing can typically be completed within one to two appointments, with reports delivered promptly afterward.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required, though some insurances require a referral from a primary care provider in order to provide coverage (such as Tricare). You can contact our office directly to schedule an evaluation and we can assist you with providing any prior authorizations before testing in order to ensure insurance coverage.
Will my insurance cover ADHD testing?
Coverage varies by provider and plan. Contact our office and will assist you with making sure you are aware of any potential costs and to ensure that your insurance covers most, if not all, of the assessment process.
Can I get medication the same day as testing?
Medication is not prescribed until testing is completed and a diagnosis is confirmed. Once diagnosed, our prescribers can discuss treatment options at a follow up appointment.
What if I don’t have ADHD?
If ADHD is not diagnosed, your evaluation will still provide valuable insight into what may be contributing to your symptoms, along with recommendations for appropriate treatment.
Is the testing confidential?
Yes, all evaluations and results are handled with strict confidentiality in accordance with healthcare privacy laws.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
You may be asked to complete intake forms and provide any relevant medical or academic history prior to your visit. If you are already prescribed a stimulant medication, do NOT take that medication on the day of testing, so that we can acquire an accurate assessment of your baseline attention levels
Our dedicated team is here to guide you every step of the way on your journey to mental wellness.
